Feel Better
-
“Everybody wishes to feel a sense of wellbeing. This can be characterised by lightness of body and brightness and clarity in our minds. To further our mental health and balance, to know what will bring us and others happiness, and to act on this knowledge with maximum clarity, we need to actively cultivate this mindset in preference to a restless or clouded mind. This is Yoga.”
(A.G. Mohan)
-
Yamas – Lifestyle considerations;
Niyamas – Strengthening relationship with self, environment, others;
Asana – Strengthen, stabilise, balance, and cultivate ease in physical body;
Pranayama – Calm and stable breath, equates to a calm and stable mind;
Mantra – Establish positive thought patterns, focussing the mind, building more confidence in voice (sound therapy);
Ritual / Personal Practice - consistently providing a stable tone for body and mind, empowerment through realised results and an evolving practice; and
Meditation - for connection and self-reflection.
Move Better
-
Mindfulness practices of yoga cultivate self-awareness and ultimately proprioception and interoception. Movement into symmetrical and asymmetrical postures, brings attention to imbalances and scope to correct them, freeing the flow of energy in the body and allowing better circulation. Moving with a greater sense of where we stand in space, symmetry, lightness in the body and balance between strength and ease in body, is the result of a properly structured Asana practice.
-
Pranayama – stabilise deep core through extended exhalation and movement of diaphragm, improve circulation;
Twisting – release stress, realign hip and shoulder girdles, bring awareness and alignment to asymmetries;
Symmetrical and Asymmetrical movement – awareness of and alignment to asymmetry, imbalances and constriction;
Balances – strengthen, stabilise; and
Stretch, strengthen and move all parts of the body in all directions to keep range of movement and better balance.
Live Better
-
“We practice yoga to better understand ourselves.”
—Saraswathi Vasudevan
The quality of attention we bring to our yoga practice mirrors how we show up in relationships and in life. Meditation supports transformation through better self-understanding. By cultivating presence, self-compassion, and adaptability on the mat, we begin to bring these qualities into our interactions with others.
-
Pranayama – develop attunement, shift nervous system from react to respond, lengthen exhale for release and calm;
Meditation – to recognise, evolve and refine our personality, for sense of connection, self-reflection;
Bhavana – cultivating positive feelings of compassion, gratitude, peace;
Personal Practice – consistently providing a stable tone for body and mind, regulation, growth; and
Mindfulness – create space between stimulus and response.

Yoga Therapy
-
Yoga Therapy, the remedial tradition of yoga, aims to empower you to improve your condition through self-action. It is a multidimensional approach which identifies and recognises the interrelationship between physical and emotional states, attitudes, diet, behaviour, lifestyle, relationships and the environment in which we live—and the state of our health. It is a personalised, iterative and staged approach, in which Yoga techniques are adopted and adapted to support agreed positive health outcome(s).
Yoga Therapy is premised on a one-on-one relationship between an appropriately qualified Yoga Therapist and Client in a Clinical Setting. The process involves:
Intake and Assessment to understand the nature and impacts of the problem;
Identifying the underlying causes and effects (which are often multiple), may be known and unknown to the client and through careful observation, dialogue and assessment;
Collaborative goal setting for the short and long-term;
Selection from the rich repertoire of Yogic tools to best suit the needs, personality, lifestyle, resolve and condition of the client;
Client commitment to implement the practice; and
Reconvene for feedback, assessment and refinement.
